Lufthansa’s Allegris business class is a confused jumble (see article). The seats themselves will be comfortable and give many passengers an excellent journey. But the German mega-carrier has gone retailing-mad and defined seven different types of product.

In the end they will just confuse or disappoint passengers who are either unsure about what they are buying or unable to get their preferred option. They would be better off by simply trying to offer a great service.

Moving forward to first class, the new Allegris product presents different but nonetheless tricky issues that will eventually but inexorably lead to them abandoning the cabin entirely. All their hard work has done nothing but create a poison pill. It is hard to believe that the designers and fleet planners really thought things through.
